Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journeys and Gold Residential Projects

Are you a DofE student looking for service hours, an Adventurous Journey or Residential Project?

Pittwater Eco Adventures run Adventurous Journeys for students undertaking the Silver and Gold levels of the award and Gold Residential Projects. Our open programs run every school holidays with our Silver Practice and Gold Residential Project taking place in the first week of the school holidays and our Gold Adventurous Journey and Silver Qualifying taking place in the second. These trips have a strong Conservation focus, underpinned by our “Reshaping Waste” project (based in Manly) and our “Caring for Country” project (based in Pittwater). Elements included in all our programs are ocean and beach cleanup, plastic recycling, bush regeneration, tree planting, and indigenous education. We also explore the local area and experience hidden gems on foot, by kayak and paddle board. The Adventurous Journey Programs all contain an element of venturing away from our base via various modes, whereas the Residential Project and its activities are based around the accommodation for more of the week.

*Students wishing to complete a Gold Combo Adventurous Journey with us, must have their Award Leaders support before booking. A combo trip includes a reduced Practice Journey of 2 days, compared with the usual 4 days. The DofE Handbook states that your Practice Trip can be shorter in duration so long as it adequately prepares you for your Qualifying Journey. Since our activities aren’t technical in nature, a 2-day Practice is more than sufficient and our Combo Trips are supported by the NSW Duke of Edinburgh Office.

Should you experience any issues gaining approval from your award leader to attend, we have various pathways available to you. You can volunteer with us for Service Hours, complete our Residential Project first, or get involved with our monthly community events. This ensures you have the prior experience necessary to qualify for a Combo Journey.

Listed below are our upcoming dates for April and the rest of 2024. These open trips are limited to 21 students maximum, making 3 sub groups of 7.
